Another Visit......

Cocoon

When leaves have changed and fallen to earth,
A sense instilled waits signs of re-birth,
Deliverance from blanket of nature’s rest,
Wherein hope abides with patience blessed.

These days are short, sun scarce and bleak,
Stark trees, bare branches like naked arms weak
Against chill winds and sleet of icy hand,
As though in death, and yet--and yet
Beneath this solemn silence
Life struggles to renew its days;
Cocooned by promise enfolding and sure,
When you will rise and live and love once more.

Maggie, I remember seeing this poem in an earlier draft before. It looks great. I think you have a talent with words. I liked the way you organized it and the choice of imagery and metaphors that you used. It definitely send chills down my spine and moves me. You know it's an excellent piece of work, when the poem moves you in this way. Good work, I can't wait to see some more.

Anna and Tamara.....thank you for your kind comments. I have truly been quite surprised that this poem, both the first time I posted it, and this time in its revised form, has had comments made on it. It was not something I expected to happen.

The first time I posted it, it was because I was just having one of those days when I felt that winter was just becoming too heavy and slow, and posted it as some sort of note of encouragement, with the title of the blog "Breathe..it's coming soon".

After re-working, I decided that I would post it again, so that anyone who had read the comments from the first post, would be able to see the difference.

It would be nice to think I could write poetry that would sing out to the world and bring delight, but alas, I'm mostly a secret poem writer because I don't have that kind of talent. But I do thank you for your words of encouragement.
